Zambia places temporary ban on metal exports

Zambia's new government announced that it had temporarily suspended metal export permits ahead of the release of new guidelines, the mining ministry said.
This temporary suspension, which is to last until the middle of Octobter, is aimed at increasing transparency in Africa's top copper producer especially as copper exporters are seen as misreporting the amount of ore leaving the country. All export payments would thus have to be routed via the central bank.

A 10-day export ban would result in  roughly 22,500 tonnes of copper not being able to export
